I once knew a man

I once knew a man who brought some light into my life
Vindictive to my lingo, diverse we were
Trapped in his private darkness, his spirit was shattered
Offensive he was, But I knew, he was in pain
I seen God’s beauty wanting to come out from inside his walls
I looked beyond his flaws, offering him love
A beautiful heart was all I had to give
He knows of my heart for he told me so
Kept me at a distance, pushing me to go

I once knew a man who had a different GOD than mine
What GOD has given me; I had to share this with him every time
He tries to take that joy and toss it away
GOD I asked, “Why I am to face this for he choose not to acknowledge you”
God answered, “Bring my son home”

I once knew a man who has closed his heart to GOD and me
I know there is beauty deep within
Fear closes his heart, trusting no one
An angel whispered, don’t give up
GOD wants his son to come back home

I once knew a man, who mocked me so
LORD I can’t bear this anymore, I just want to go
I have so much love to give
He is blind he cannot see
LORD I will rest now and turn this over to thee
My love is ready to give to someone that’s ready for me
Your light will lead the path were I need to be

I once knew a man who believed in free will
I once knew a man who wanted it his way
I once knew a man - GOD knocked on his door
I once knew a man who kept that door closed
I once knew a man without my GOD in his heart
I once knew a man with a heavy heart
I once knew a man
